As with many of the Zingrods' trades involving Boston pitchers, Rose might seem like a throw-in to sweeten the main deal. However, it was Rose, not Mantei, who was the key to this trade. When Saberhagen comes back, somebody is going to the bullpen, and the way fellow Zingrods Ramon Martinez and Pete Schourek have been pitching lately the Zingrods were willing to bet that it won't be Rose.
