Catalanotto was acquired in the 1999 draft. He saw limited time with the Zingrods in 1998 but was released during the season. He has decent power for a second baseman, and since he can play three infield positions (1B, 2B and 3B) he compensates for some of the position versatility lost in the Mark Loretta trade.
Update 8-16-1999: The Zingrods traded Catalanotto, Preston Wilson and Antonio Alfonseca to the Mudville Nine for Roger Cedeno, Carlos Febles and Ramon Martinez.
