Wilson was acquired as a free agent on 4/19/1999. He has excellent power potential, but how long he remains a Zingrod depends on what happens to his playing time once Floyd comes off the DL.

Update 7/9/1999: The question no longer seems to be "what will happen when Floyd comes off the DL", but is instead "will Wilson be Rookie of the Year and if so, how badly will the Zingrods gloat"?

Update 8-16-1999: The Zingrods traded Wilson, Frank Catalanotto and Antonio Alfonseca to the Mudville Nine for Roger Cedeno, Carlos Febles and Ramon Martinez. The Zingrods were second in home runs and second to last in steals, so the Wilson for Cedeno aspect of this trade was a no-brainer. Plus, the Zingrods trade a guy with a relative who used to be a Met for a guy who is a current Met.
