Wade is a hard-throwing strikeout pitcher. Or he would be if he could stay healthy long enough to get his velocity and control back to where they were in 1996. I've been waiting on this fella to come around for way too long to give up on him now.
Update 5/10/1999: Wade was released today, although this certainly does not mean I've given up on him. However, the injury to starting shortstop Royce Clayton is expected to keep him out 6 weeks, and the Zingrods were unwisely not carrying a backup shortstop. The Zingrods acquired Shawon Dunston from the free agent pool, Clayton went on the reserve list, and Wade was odd man out. Hopefully, none of the other owners in the league will notice this little arrangement, and if they do, well, hopefully none of them are desperate enough to pick up a guy who's still pitching in the minors.
Of course, since the only people likely to be reading this are other league owners, I suppose it's possible that somebody might pick him up just to piss me off. But then again, I doubt it.
