I don't think I need to explain why I like Reyes, but the comments I had during the 1998 season are pretty amusing:
Why do the Dodgers keep passing up the reincarnation of Fernandomania in order to give a spot in the rotation to Dreifort or Mlicki or whoever it is this week?
UPDATE 7/13/1998 - The Dodgers took the ultimate pass on Reyes last week - all the way to Cincinatti. Either A) they know something I don't or B) Slim-Fast has rotted Lasorda's brain.
Update 10-14-1999:
His one start for the Reds was somewhat ill-fated, but I still don't see why this guy is pegged as a middle reliever. Look at his stuff. Look at the strikeouts, the K/BB ratio, the K/IP ratio, whatever. He could be a closer, maybe, but I still think he should be in the rotation. Unfortunately, I don't have enough empty roster slots to keep him around until that happens. Reyes was released prior to the 2000 season.
