A bit of trivia about Fred that you won't find in the Devil Rays' media guide: he was born on the same day as the Zingrods' owner - Halloween '63.

Interestingly, the owner of the Mudville Nine was also born on Halloween, although in a much more recent year.

Update 10-14-1999: So was 1998 the fluke, or was 1999 his last hurrah? Will he turn in another performance like this year next season, or will he cool down now that he has a contract? These questions and more will be answered in 2000, since it is highly likely that Fred will be back with the Zingrods as well.
