Trevor Hoffman

The premier closer in the NL, bar none. Try to name somebody with a higher strikeouts-per-innings-pitched ratio. If you can think of anybody besides Randy Johnson without consulting a reference book, give yourself five points.

Update 10-14-1999: No complaints about Trevor from the Zingrods, but he's going to have to step it up a notch if he wants to keep the blurb above (which had been accurate the last two or three years). Right now it looks like he's the premier closer in the NL, with the exception of Billy Wagner. Maybe that will make his salary a bit more affordable next season. Update 6-4-2000: It appears that this analyst was a bit premature on rating Wagner above Hoffman. To qoute Beavis and Butt-Head, "There is none higher".
