Acquired 6/28/1999 from the free agent pool.
Along with fellow Zingrod Mark Portugal Hamilton was with the Zingrods during their Golden Era. At the time, great things were expected of him, but after the heartbreaking 1995 season when he only won 6 games despite a 3.08 ERA, Hamilton seemed to taper off as the Padres got better. His win totals increased as his other numbers declined. Now with the Jays, and with a modest GBUFBL salary, the expectations for Hamilton are also modest. An ERA around 4.00 and 10+ wins will suffice.
Update 10-14-1999: Hamilton had finally seemed to find his groove in the last couple months of the season, until nagging injuries led the Jays to shut him down for the year after they dropped out of contention for the wild card. Sensible enough, although this forced the Zingrods to drop him. If he's okay by next spring, maybe he'll be available as a cheap, late-round draft pick.
