The Pirates are geographically the closest MLB team to the Zingrods' home office in Wiley Ford. MLB realignment has allowed the Zingrods' owner to become a closet Pirates fan, since they are no longer in the same division as the all-powerful Mets (although naturally if they were to meet in the playoffs, the Bucs would be shown no mercy).

All that has little to do with Cordova, except that I've seen him pitch and man, he's good. I'm talking Cy Young candidate, if the Bucs would ever give him some run support.

Not only is the following a completely irrelevant piece of stream-of-consiousness indulgence, but it also involves a bastardization of Francisco's surname. Anyway, the Zingrods' owner is a huge fan of Fantasy Island and Star Trek alumnus Ricardo "THIS is Ceti Alpha Six!" Montalban. Does anybody else remember him advertising the Chrysler Cordoba with it's "rich Corinthian leather"?
